Although Elisha Cuthbert has been absent from the regular cast of the action-packed series, 24, since the third season, she recently spoke about the future of its long-anticipated movie version. The actress, who is currently promoting her new film entitled Captivity, expressed the same eagerness and anticipation many of the show’s fans feel towards the proposed undertaking.
“I’ve got the phone waiting by the bed, and I’m just sort of waiting for it to ring and them to tell me ‘Hey, we’re gonna go do the movie,’” the actress narrated.
News about the proposed big-screen rendition of the hit real-time series surfaced months ago but the project has been put on the back burner indefinitely, due to time constraints brought on by the filming of the actual show. Elisha Cuthbert did consider the idea that the movie could go into production next year when the upcoming seventh season is scheduled to end. She did reiterate, however, that everything depends on her 24 dad, Kiefer Sutherland’s availability and schedule.
“I think Kiefer is so busy getting these seasons done that it’s almost impossible to get anything going…we’ve been talking about it since the first season…but it’s got to be good,” Cuthbert enthused.

An interesting point to consider though, is how the film version will be handled considering the show’s trademark real-time format. Obviously, the time restrictions of a typical motion picture will make it impossible to depict an actual 24-hour cycle. However the producers, writers and directors may deem it appropriate to render a theatrical release of 24, fans will most likely devour the movie if only to witness Jack Bauer in full big-screen action.

In the meantime, fans of the popular series can get some kind of 24 fix with Elisha Cuthbert’s suspense thriller, Captivity, which is set to open on Friday, the 13th.

Interview and article from sheknows.com:
Elisha Cuthbert is no stranger to hit television with her career-making portrayal of Kim Bauer on 24. Cuthbert’s return to series television takes a different twist this time out as she joins Christian Slater in ABC’s freshman mystery thriller packed with hope, The Forgotten.
Slater and Cuthbert phoned SheKnows for an exclusive chat just as some terrific news arrived from The Forgotten set. At the end of every show, a Public Service Announcement (PSA) highlights an actual missing person. The Forgotten received word that a real-life Jane Doe has been identified thanks to the PSA spot.
Cuthbert and Slater are elated that they work on a program that makes a difference by putting names to the thousands of John and Jane Does who remain nameless. The show airs at 10 pm Tuesdays on ABC.

SheKnows: Christian, you and I first spoke when the show premiered. As you are sitting here today, how have things been going?

Christian Slater: Things have continued to go along quite well. The show has evolved and grown. The chemistry among the cast has developed further. We’ve gotten to know each other, and the addition of Elisha Cuthbert has infused it with a lot of energy and enthusiasm. We’re having a great deal of fun with her. I’m excited to see where it’s going to go.

SheKnows: Elisha, you’ve been on series, such as 24, from their beginnings. Now, you’ve joined the cast of a show already in motion. Is there any difference?

Elisha Cuthbert: I feel like I’ve seamlessly come into the cast with The Forgotten. I’ve been comfortable since day one — mostly because I’ve worked with Christian before. But I instantly felt comfortable. The crew here is fantastic, and the cast is a lot of fun. I have to say, we have a blast every day in between some of the more serious stuff we have to play. I was 18 years old when I shot the pilot for 24. I’ve been off and on for many years with them. They have seen me in a different way. But now I’m 27 years old, the experience is there, and I feel a hell of a lot more confident now than I did when I was 18. To be able to bring that on board with this new show… I just feel good.

SheKnows: 24 plays on our fears, and of course. we love it. But The Forgotten plays on our hope. That has to be a really nice thing to be a part of.

Elisha Cuthbert: Absolutely. I think my role on 24 is a lot different than here on The Forgotten, but that was something I was thriving on. I think if you are going to go off of a show that is as successful as 24 and come on to a new show as an actor, you want to do something completely different. I love that these characters are real people trying to make a difference. We’re not professionals. We just have big hearts who are trying to do the best we can for these people, these John and Jane Does. It helps bring a little extra to the characters because there’s room for mistakes, and audiences can see the realism in that.

Finding the real-life lost
SheKnows: I just got the news this morning — this is a show that truly makes a difference.

Elisha Cuthbert: Yes!

SheKnows: You are all making a difference and not simply entertaining. If you could each tell me about the Jane Doe who has been found from your show…

Christian Slater: I had a feeling when we started the show that we did have an opportunity to genuinely solve some real cases. I’m happy to report that has started to happen. A woman named Paula Davis went missing in 1987. Her sister was watching an episode of The Forgotten and stayed to watch the PSA that we did for an organization called nameus.gov. She went on there, put in the details she had about her missing sister and was able to positively identify her on December 11, 2009! She has the closure, and now Paula will be brought to her family and the proper arrangements are going to be made. To get the opportunity to be a part of something on television that is making a real, genuine, significant difference in people’s lives is more than I could have ever hoped for. I’m just thrilled and humbled to be part of something like that.

SheKnows: And Elisha, talk about what a way to start your run on The Forgotten!

Elisha Cuthbert: Oh, absolutely. I feel very lucky. It’s just a bonus. It’s amazing. The authenticity of it, too, to know that we’re doing something that helps people out there — it’s a lovely, lovely thing.

According to Contactmusic, the 24 star admitted that she is a huge fan of the show when she appeared as a guest on Thursday night.
Cuthbert, who is currently shooting The Forgotten near the Lopez Tonight studios, also claimed that she has tried to bypass security to get into the audience.
“If I can get a free pass to come here and sit in the audience any time I want I will love your show forever,” she joked.
Host George Lopez then produced a specially-made season pass for the actress, who screamed when she received the gift.
“This is the only one in existence,” he said. “We had it made. They told me you were a huge fan… You are welcome 24/7.”

If you’re the type of person who demands action, brace yourself for an all-out tactical response from Fox. You want action? You’re going to get plenty of it Sunday night.
The network comes out swinging with a one-two combination that adds up to a three-hour E-ticket thrill ride. First up, at 8 p.m. on WJW Channel 8, is the guns-blazing, fists-flying premiere of “Human Target,” an immediately engaging adventure series starring Mark Valley. Hot on its heels at 9 p.m. is the two-hour, eighth-season premiere of “24,” with Kiefer Sutherland’s Jack Bauer out of his coma and ready to start another tough day.
Although both of these jaw-dropping Fox shows are high-tension, high-octane, high-wire acts, they’re amazingly different in tone. Yet each works on its own terrific terms.
“24″ is by far the darker and denser of the two. And if the aging but craftier Fox veteran seems more deliberately paced than ever before, that’s because it is.
Maturity has not made “24″ any less riveting. If anything, it has picked up some storytelling and character-development moves that provide more shading to these world-saving proceedings.

The action shifts to Manhattan this season, which is set about two years after Jack drifted into that coma. When we first glimpse the retired counterterrorism agent, he’s being nudged awake by his adorable granddaughter, Teri.

This is his latest assignment: baby-sitting the apple of his eye in the Big Apple. Looking a little older and a lot happier, Jack doesn’t want to tackle anything more dangerous than taking Teri to the zoo.

Jack’s daughter, Kim (Elisha Cuthbert), is moving back to Los Angeles. Jack has decided to go with them to work as a security consultant. Freeze the picture of a happy family: Jack with his loving daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter.

They will meet at the airport and embrace this happy vision. “See you in an hour,” Jack tells them.

Wanna bet? Injured informant Victor Aruz (Benito Martinez of “The Shield”) stumbles into Jack’s happy life with information. Jack tells him he doesn’t work for the government anymore. Victor assures him this is something he’ll want to hear. Why?

“Because you’re the guy who always does the right thing,” Victor says.

President Taylor (Cherry Jones) is about to conclude peace talks with Omar Hassan (Anil Kapoor), the president of the fictional Middle Eastern country of Kamistan. Hassan is to be assassinated.

In addition to Kapoor (“Slumdog Millionaire”), new regulars include Mykelti Williamson, cast as New York CTU director Brian Hastings, and Katee Sackhoff and Freddie Prinze Jr. as two of his agents. Mary Lynn Rajskub is back as Chloe, and look for Annie Wersching to make an unnerving return as Renee.

Sunday’s two hours will be followed by two more hours starting at 8 p.m. Monday, and the rules prohibit giving away much more in terms of plot. But if you hadn’t noticed, an influx of new writer-producers (including Canton McKinley High School graduate Brannon Braga) improved the wandering plot structure a bit last season on the always-uneven “24.”

This seems to be the case again this season. Even with all the explosions and gun battles, it’s a slower build than usual, and perhaps that patience is a sign of maturity.

By contrast, “Human Target” has a much greater comic-book feel to it. Maybe that’s because it’s based on a comic book. ABC tried turning the DC comic into a series for Rick Springfield in 1992. It was quickly shot down.

This Fox incarnation has far better odds. Valley (“Fringe”) stars as Christopher Chance, a thrill-addicted security expert who becomes a “human target” to protect his clients. The full-throttle opener moves like a runaway train. And that’s fitting because a runaway train figures in the plot.

It’s as if someone edited out the action sequences from a James Bond film with Roger Moore, cramming it all into one prime-time hour. Valley can banter and arch his eyebrow with the best of them, tossing off a punch, then tossing off a quip and scrambling back for more. Chi McBride and Jackie Earle Haley provide all the support he’ll ever need as the show moves to its regular 8-9 time slot on Wednesday.

Violent? You bet. Sunday night could be billed as Men With Guns, Men on a Mission or Men and Mayhem. But it’s where the action is, so strap yourself in at 8 p.m. and enjoy the ride.

In a last-ditch effort to save a failing show, ABC and The Forgotten have cast 24’s Elisha Cuthbert for a recurring role starting in February 2010, according to EW’s Ask Ausiello. Cuthbert will play Maxine Denver, a Chicago professional who is skeptical about the Forgotten Network’s ability to solve cases (as are we all). She is forced to put aside this skepticism when the Network investigates a case close to home. Ausiello asked the question, and I have to ask it too. Can Cuthbert save this dying show? What do you think The Forgotten currently airs on Tuesday nights at 10pm EST on ABC.
